I know its a shot in the dark, but for those SC'ers who do NOT have a Tangerine Bank account (or if you know somebody who does not have an account), Tangerine Bank just extended their promotion until November 30, 2026. New client MUST BE A NEW CLIENT. If you have another account but want a Savings account you will not be eligible for it (don't bother even trying, you will only waste your time and effort). Don't say I didn't warn you! If you open a Savings account, you will receive a 4.5% interest rate on the account for 5 months from the day you open it. If it is a TFSA or RRSP or other type of tax-sheltered account, the rate rises to 5.0%. ON TOP OF THIS, you could also take advantage of their referral program. If a Tangerine Client provides you their Orange Key (ie. referral code), enter it with your application and you will EACH receive $50. This is pretty standard for Tangerine and the amount changes regularly, but IT STACKS WITH THE INTEREST RATE PROMOTION. Yes, this is stated clearly in their FAQ. This is a pretty good promotion, and most certainly beats the Manulife 3% promotion. However Manulife does not have the strict limitations of new accounts.
