Ara is a free parental control app I've been building for Android. No ads, no data harvesting, premium tier is $4.99/mo if you want more than one managed device. Self-hosted backend, end-to-end encrypted sync. What you get on the free tier: - Screen time limits + bedtime schedule - App blocking (per-app or per-category) - Remote lock from your phone - GPS location check-in - Family sharing (up to 3 kids on free, unlimited on premium) - Cross-platform: Android parent app, plus Windows / Linux / macOS / iOS child clients Why I built it: most parental control apps either cost $10+/mo, are ad-supported and harvest your kids' data, or require both parent and kid to use the same brand. Ara separates parent (Android) from child (any OS), and the parent sees every device in one dashboard. Free tier is fully featured for a single device. Premium adds multi-device family plans. Referral / more free usage: if you sign up using someone's referral code (or share your own once you're in), both parties get an extra month of premium free.
