Zellers Canada has new owners and is relaunching this month in Ontario, with a huge new store in Toronto. The brand relaunched last year with a new store in Edmonton featuring apparel, home goods, luggage, and seasonal items, and a new store will be opening June the 18th near Toronto’s Yorkdale Mall. A second Ontario store will be opening in July at Windsor’s Tecumseh Mall.
These two new stores will introduce some new product categories, including snack food and toys. Last October, the brand’s first store opening at Londonberry Mall in Edmonton exceeded expectations, and Zellers 3.0 had a positive customer response. Construction is currently underway for the 25,000 square foot stand alone store in Toronto, and also for the Windsor location in Tecumseh Mall.
The new toy department will include plush toys, puzzles, outdoor games and licensed products from recognizable brands, and the snack foods will include flavoured popcorn, candies and sweet treats, international chips, “better-for-you” snacks and an assortment of grab-and-go drinks. The Zellers mascot Teddy will also be returning.
